VIDEO: So Perfectly Smart

How precisely thought-out, light, humorous, delicate and delightful this little Sebas and Clim piece is. Again, thanks to Drawn for posting it.

ILLUSTRATION: Sleep Patterns

February 4, 2012

Again, I seem to have some re-occurring themes these past few days. This time it’s sleep and like Ana Somnia, Ahn Min Jeong’s  illustration makes me think of that ill-defined state of restless sleep intertwining dreams, wakefulness and something else in between. She explains that she “tried to visualize how organs work in the stage of somnolence (drowsiness) using signs and codes, including the anatomy of a brain, reactions within the nervous system, the link between the brain and the eyes, etc.”

ANIMATION: Awake or Not

February 2, 2012

For the last I don’t know how long I wake up at some silly hour and my brain takes off on an uncontrollable journey of its own.  I don’t feel tired the next day and as easily as I wake up I return to sleep although sometimes, it seems, a whole hour later. Today when I Stumbled Upon this odd site I thought I was watching an animation of  my sleepy mind. It takes a while to load, but if you have the time let it: Ana Somnia. Photo by Kim Holtermand.

ANIMATION: Simplicity

September 6, 2011

I was wandering through Vimeo this evening, recovering from a festival weekender and I came across this little promo for Phil Borst. There is so much tranquil space which allows the beautifully timed and elegantly animated shapes to speak for themselves.

My lovely man brought home The Arrival, a Shaun Tan book. I gobbled it up slowly. I was dying to jump ahead flipping beautiful page after beautiful page but instead I forced myself to acutely look at every detail and nuance created by Tan.

Checking out what he’s up to these days I then discovered that Passion Pictures Australia had brought one of his books to life. I haven’t watched it yet but look forward to doing so. Check out the animation’s charming website for The Lost Thing.

ANIMATION: glow sticks

May 11, 2011

I was going through some favourites in my Vimeo account and came across this simple but effective computer animation. And it has been animated to Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto so props there.
